Congratulations! If you have experienced holistic “wellness” care, you have long learned the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments. You have learned that the “well-being” of your nervous system is central to continued good health, vitality, outstanding performance and unbelievable stamina. Yes, you have a lot of nerve. You are pumped and ready to meet the challenges of today’s lifestyle.
Many of my patients are surprised to learn that good health has less to do with how you “feel” and more to do with how well you body “works.” It is your nervous system’s job to see that the body functions properly. When your stomach gets “nervous” (your controlling and monitoring nerve impulses become distorted), you get too much or too little acid, causing heartburn or upset stomach. This can eventually lead to stomach ulcers and other exacerbating and debilitating disease. Similar problems can occur with your other vital organs as well.
But, let’s get back to the “how you feel” part. Pain is a signal by the nervous system that all is not right within your body. It is the reaction to a problem, like an electrical arc emitting from a wall outlet in your home. On a temporary basis, you can choose to use another electrical outlet (like an arm, hand, foot, lung, etc.), but you have substantially diminished your capacity to perform, especially when an emergency requires full and coordinated effort. Wouldn’t it be better to fix that faulty connection, eliminate the pain and get back to full power now?
Because pain is only a signal, when it is ignored and unheeded it will eventually stop—with or without drugs. However, the cause will not be self corrected, if the problem is due to a structural misalignment in your body. Please remember that the integrity of your nervous system is paramount for great health.
It may be time to call our office for an adjustment.
