The “Silver Bullet Test”: Do You Need a Chiropractic Adjustment?

When your body feels pain, it is a warning sign that something is wrong with your health. When you ignore this warning sign, you may find yourself dealing with additional problems. For example, ignored back pain or neck pain can lead to much more severe pain, and conditions such as migraine headaches, rotator cuff injury, ruptured disks, and tendonitis. In fact, continued chronic pain that is not treated can even result in diseases like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or even cancer.

At our Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa-area chiropractic clinic, we often see patients who put off treatment for too long and wish they had paid attention to the early warning signs.

If you ignore that initial pain due to finances or time, it will often backfire on you. In the long term, patients who ignore the early warning signs of pain will end up paying more money and spending more time on treatment since the condition only tends to worsen. Regular check-ups are a wise idea since these can help with monitoring your health and avoiding the worsening of injury.

The Chiropractic “Silver Bullet” Health Check

In the 1984 classic film The Karate Kid, wise mentor Mr. Miyagi schools teenager Daniel in martial arts. During his training, Daniel is taught to balance on one foot. This helped to teach quick reaction times and fast recovery from assault. Now, our chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Secrest, DC, doesn’t recommend that you start trying out karate moves untrained, however, we can all learn something from the balance-on-one-foot move. In fact, if you can’t do this simple thing, it is a clear indication that you need the help of a professional.

Test your structural balance by standing near a doorway or strong piece of furniture that you can grab onto if needed. Simply try to stand on one foot and see how long you can hold this position. If you have trouble with this, we will be happy to help you at our Scottsdale and Tempe-area office. Our Mesa chiropractor will show you some exercises you can do at home that will complement your adjustment and will help you avoid injury and illness in the future!

The more balanced you are, the more ready you will be to face life and the surprise injuries that sometimes get thrown your way.
